I've heard the idea being thrown around before, but it's sounding a lot closer to actual production than it's ever been before. I'm mostly going, "okay, an X-Force movie, but what does that even mean?
" The X-Force team has a huge long convoluted history with so many different incarnations - mostly offshoots of a massive, sprawling family of X-Men teams with a scale and history hugely bigger than anything the movie-verse has ever even hinted at - with a membership ranging from the mansion's youngest students to cold-blooded former villains. Cable himself has a huge long convoluted history, which is only going to get more convoluted trying to squeeze him into the movie-verse where his parents both
died before he was ever born. I'd really doubt we're going to see any of the original X-Force team - they've got too much backstory and too little iconic value for there to be much sense in using them. In other articles
I found on a quick google search, the writer talks about X-Force being about "mutants who didn't make it to the mansion", which sounds more like a story about the Morlocks than any existing incarnation of the team, and also about
loving the Uncanny X-Force
incarnation of the team, which doesn't involve Cable at all.
As of now, I really have no idea whether to get excited about this movie, because I've got no idea how they're going to try to make it work. /o\
